Snap-8 (Acetyl-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH₂) is a synthetic octapeptide analogue of the N-terminal segment of SNAP-25 (Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25kDa) — one of three SNARE proteins required for neurotransmitter vesicle docking and fusion at the neuromuscular junction. By mimicking this segment, Snap-8 competitively displaces SNAP-25 from the SNARE complex, interfering with acetylcholine vesicle release and thereby modulating neuromuscular transmission amplitude.
