DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) — Sleep & Neuromodulation Research
DSIP is a naturally occurring nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood by Monnier et al. in 1977. Administered to rabbits, it reliably induced delta (slow-wave, deep) sleep — giving it its name. Beyond sleep induction, decades of research have revealed DSIP’s broad neuromodulatory role: regulating stress hormones, showing antioxidant properties, demonstrating anti-epileptic and analgesic effects, and modulating the aging process.

Key Research Areas
💤 Delta Sleep Induction & Sleep Architecture
DSIP promotes delta wave (slow-wave, Stage 3) sleep — the deepest, most restorative sleep phase associated with GH release, immune restoration, and memory consolidation. Research models show increased delta sleep duration and reduced sleep latency with DSIP administration.
😌 Stress & Cortisol Normalization
DSIP demonstrates potent stress-attenuating properties — normalizing HPA axis dysregulation, reducing stress-induced ACTH and cortisol spikes, and blunting hypothalamic stress responses in research models. Relevant to PTSD, chronic stress, and burnout research.
⚡ Antioxidant Research
DSIP shows direct antioxidant activity and upregulates endogenous antioxidant defences. Research has documented protection against oxidative damage in multiple organ systems, potentially contributing to its longevity-associated effects.
🔬 Anti-Tumor Research
DSIP has demonstrated anti-tumor properties in animal models, inhibiting tumor growth and increasing resistance to carcinogen-induced tumor formation — potentially via stress normalization and immune modulation.
